I wish my blog was cool

It's true. I have blog envy. I think I'm officially green with envy over how cool my friends' blogs are! I don't have any cool weekly things or pictures or anything like that. Maybe that's something to put as a goal: make a cool blog. hahaha ridiculous really! So here's what's going on with me this week: I babysat for the same family all through middle and highschool and the girls became like my little sisters. Well, Leigh Anne is now almost 15 and she came to visit us for almost 2 weeks! Her parents recently separated and it's not going so smoothly, so she needed a break. We've been doing totally girly stuff this week. We've shopped, done mani/pedis, painted pottery, gone to lunch in cafes, and are going on her first college visit. I realize that I ADORE young teens and spending time investing in their lives. Their outlook on life is so interesting and honest. If you're not genuine with them they know and call you out, wow, how convicting! Friday we're going to Knoxville because wedding bells are ringing for two people who have become such dear friends to us. Some of our favorite time is spent with them. Couple friends are hard to find so we cherish our bond with them because we love them BOTH and that's unique :)

I spent the last weekend in IA with my family reunion and spent a few extra days with my grandma. It was good to spend some precious moments together. She is such a godly woman. I hope to someday have a faithful prayer life and testimony like hers. What a wonderfully full life she has lived! It's hard to watch my grandparents age. They are getting so frail and it scares me to think that someday my parents will be like that. My parents aging is something that scares me.

And, in other news, I got to talk to my dear friend Adrienne tonight. My heart is always overflowing with joy after spending any time in conversation with Adrienne. She is a constant encouragement to my life. I am SO thankful God brought us together as friends. Her wedding was more than beautiful, it was honest, real, God honoring, touching, heart-tugging, joyful, fun, loving and just plain wonderful! I cannot imagine two people who are better suited for each other than Nick and Adrienne. Happiness!

Becca officially moved to San Diego. I am officially heartbroken and traumatized about next year. My principal placed me on a team with two staff members who are...challenging to my joyfulness. So, we'll see what God has planned, because I am certainly a little nervous.  I have some really good guy friends left, but am looking to take applications to fill the vacancy of resident girl-friend!

Hey, it's almost my birthday! I love the 4th of July, and not just because it's my birthday, but because I realized a few years ago that I love all things patriotic. If it's a song, a tshirt, planes flying over, whatever it may be I love feeling like an American. It might be a bit snobby but I really am proud of being an American. And, thus think I'm born on the best day ever. So, happy early birthday to me!

And IT'S SUMMER which means it's baseball season! The best time of the year.  (Hey, look Krissy, a picture...slowly getting cooler)

I'll help you come up with some sort of cute weekly post, and I'm sure you'll continue to step it up with the pictures.
